I'll keep it short. If you want to make some $$$$ (more or less), and you don't know from where to start, I have a tip for you: Do data research.

Collect and organize data, and sell to the right people. It can be data research about countries, states, cities (mayors in the x city, business men in the y city, etc); medical, art, automotive, even wood industry (what kind of furniture the Swiss/German/French people are buying, what yearly budget they have, what they buy/sell in the spring vs. winter, and so on) area.

The "secret" is to stick on one subject, and to do the best research. If you do your job well (and you have all the resources for free, thanks to the internet), I can guarantee you'll make a pretty nice profit from it.

Some example of what I am talking about:

Avi Schiffmann - 17 years old; got on $8M from Microsoft for his Covid stats website: https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/350882

Jack Sweeney - 19 years old; Become World Wide famous for tracking Elon Musk's airplane. You have the full story here: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...-the-twitter-teen-who-tracked-elon-musk-s-jet

And there are many others.

My question for the one who hasn't made it yet:
What are you waiting for?!

Cheers!

I can't help but notice the attempt at irony in your comment. If are you looking for spoon feed, this isn't the place. To keep it shorter, just ignore my future threads.

Best of luck!

I have few data scraper specific to one platform, it's finding the sources around the marketplace that may find them useful and holding a strong relationship which is necessary building stone imo

Yes @TheMarquis is a very smart guy.

If your post was ironic then you just showed how much you are polluting effort from other people for nothing.

I hope you were not sarcastic or you would be a POS.

Data is $$$

People interested in going via this route should improve on scraping skills and/or partner with scraping professionals which could help you gather data better.

RapidAPI + Python is a great way to start many ideas.

There's always money in gathering data and selling to the right people.

Smart or not smart, do I care ? Atleast he (or she) was smart enough not to post this in the money making section !!! Yeah, quite smart !!! :smirk:
Well, here is another "way to make some bucks" -
Think of a service that is in high demand, such as SEO, building backlinks. Then create a profile at Fiverr. Then create a few relevant gigs and sell these your services to the "right" people. Because website operators are always looking for SEO, backlinks.
"If you do your job well, I can GUARANTEE you'll make a pretty nice profit from it".
"What are you waiting for ?!"
And wait, wait, wait, one more thing to add to complete my guide :-
"Cheers !"
If applicable, you can also say "Cheese !"

And if you need many other wonderful "ways to make some bucks", do let me know.

What do you consider a "nice profit" and how does someone know if they are doing their "job well?"

It doesn't seem like that kid got an offer of $8M because of the data collection, but rather because he had a site that went viral and was attracting millions of users a day. Microsoft would not likely pay him anything just for the data, as they surely have much more accurate data compiled in a much more reliable and useful way.

How many other people created COVID information sites that received 1 visitor per day at their peak? That number has to be in the tens of thousands at least.

Goddammit, you really can't see the value in OPs tip. I'm sorry for you if you already know everything about it and heard it a couple times. There's a lot of new and old guys who could get one or two hints / mindset from this.

I think the issue is that OP is presenting this in almost a condescending manner, as if you just need to collect some data and you are printing money, and the only thing stopping you from achieving that success is laziness. They use extreme outlier examples of data collection that have been paired up with high-quality UI's on successful websites. If you find the right people you can sell your shit. So why aren't you doing it? Just take a dump in a bag, find the right person, and you are rich. But finding the right person is obviously the most difficult step in that scenario. And how do you know ahead of time if they want your poop? Maybe it's not nutty enough for them. How are we confirming that this particular product, packaged in this particular way, has a buyer that we can reach, and will actually buy it? There are so many questions here that are pretty important to answer, because right now if anyone took OP at face value, they are expecting that their time will not be wasted, and we can be sure that most people who try this type of method will fail completely and make $0.

This is not a method, but wasting resources
Data scraping cost, also most of public data is worth nothing, as company can just hire programmer and scrape it themself
The thing is, he didn't say it was a method. It was a simple tip, an insight. Insights don't need to be pretty detailed step-by-step descriptions or a "method" as you said and might help someone in the beginning to open their understanding of something. Pretty much as some people feel empowered by simple well-crafted catchy phrases.

I don't understand all the fuss about it.

We have already explained the issues, you just don't seem to be reading what we are writing.

It's misleading and condescending, and ultimately it's not very useful.

There are probably dozens of others threads that already tell people there is money to be made in selling data that OP could have bumped.

Here is a much more useful thread on the same subject: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/b...ow-to-make-money-with-scraped-content.902232/

Can confirm. I tried exactly this 2 years ago.

I scraped all popular business directories of my country, public government records and serps to compile a database of about about 1 million businesses of my country. Filtered and organized into several categories and geodata. I packaged it into an API and listed it on a website.

Result? 0 sales. Got some traffic but that's about it.

Maybe I just didn't try enough to market it. I still haven't figured out how I would reach to those who need my data. Apart from writing content to appear on Google and running ads and stuff.

Here is another tip -

covert your data and make a video around it.

Title -19 years old; Become World Wide famous for tracking Elon Musk's airplane.

Make Youtube Videos Around It Monetize with ads you can also sell your services.

nice tips OP, this could spark some ideas for those that don't know a peep.
with some twisting of course. ;)
