What Should I Charge...?

So basically the story is I am the web designer/manager for a local company. Another local company is looking for their website to be modernized and optimized for Google.

I got in contact with this guy and we talked for a while and he liked my work but he said that most of the web design/seo companies around here like to charge ridiculous prices for the initial design and then a contract for the seo services per month. I told him I was willing to work for far less than those prices ($3000-$5000)

He asked me what I thought I would charge for services like that and I told him I wasn't sure yet I would need to think about it as I'm not a web design company I'm just a freelancer.

he has the domain, and it's extremely seo friendly (10 yrs old + main keywords)
he wants to be able to change things if he needs to (maybe I should install wordpress?)
he'd like me to be able to keep it optimized every month
he'd like me to manage a ppc campaign
I can do all of this fairly easily, I have just never done it for someone else before and am not sure what to charge

So... What should I charge?

1,500$ initial and 50-100$ a month for keeping his site optimized and managing his PPC campaign.

What if all I really have to do is install a decent wordpress theme and plug in all the content and optimize?

Wat might seem simple for you, is hard for another.
Get as much as you can.
Throw up a highball and say the price is negotiable.

What is the price is propose he doesn't like? I mean I would probably set up a wordpress for $100 if it came down to it, not that I would let him know that.

If you know what he's already been quoted, just go slightly below that and throw in some extra services that are easy for you but sound good.

What may seem routine, everyday work for you is highly skilled to those who don't know what they are doing, so don't be afraid to charge accordingly. Afterall, just think how much a mechanic charges to fix your car etc...
