Best X for Y keywords?

Do they work?

I want to start my first affiliate blog but I'm stuck with keywords and niche. Whatever idea I have, I can't find enough topically relevant keywords.

Do best X for Y keywords work? As in: ''best program for video editing''. Then next article ''best program for bitcoin trading'' etc. Does amazon even accept these types of websites?

I've come across 100s of articles/websites that have affiliate ads & Google adsense enabled that had best x for y content.

Id say that it's safe to yes provided that you have quality content.

But people say you can't have 100% commercial blogs anymore. It should be 80% informative and 20% affiliate, otherwise site tanks hard on rankings. If I make a site based on ''bext X for Y'', I'd only be able to make affiliate content.

Also, I'm not sure how it would rank on the topical relevance. Like, X would always be the same but Y would be different for every article. You know what I mean?
