Scammers are bulk creating real accounts in crypto P2P exchange sites and they actually pass KYC. This might be used to scam people on Binance, Paxful and/or other platforms, or simply to launder money or avoid taxes. This is nothing new, but the approach they are taking is scary because it's available to everyone and it's stupidly easy and cheap.

Basically, scammers will post a job in microworkers requiring workers to create an email account and then register for Binance, and then provide the login details. They also require that the workers upload their documents and proof of residency (KYC).

The sad part: there are A LOT of people that will do this for 1-2 dollars

The scary part: one of the jobs on microworkers requires that the worker goes to a telegram channel that contains the job details. The telegram channel has 12,5k subscribers...

And obviously, not everyone is subscribed:

A lot of people will only P2P trade with people that have a lot of track record/good reviews/past transactions. Surprise surprise - we all know how easily that can be faked when you have access to that many accounts.

Stay safe people.

I usually look at the number of deals someone did on p2p before working with them. If they have 5000+ deals and 99%+ success rate on Binance, im sure i can trust them, you know?

I remember seeing this earlier on a TG group. I never do P2P and never will. Unnecessary tax complications and incase the other guy is into some dodgy business then it's an issue for everyone that has done p2p with that person. all come under a scanner.

I'm not saying there aren't legit traders. My point was that people should be aware that these numbers can be faked. I won't be surprised if there are engagement groups where bulk account holders can "grow" other people's accounts, much like like4like engagement groups.

I think Binance P2P is much secure , i dont know about other platforms much , but I have been using Binance from a long time .

Glad you pointed this out
I use P2P almost every other day. In most cases, the asset is frozen until the transaction goes through

Thanks for giving ideas to scammers lurking around BHW now...

I noticed the same thing 2 weeks ago and realized that mentioning it would make things even worse.

I think its for increasing trust scores so that big money can be traded, for binance they will not release funds untill you have released yours. There definitely be scams but hey it's internet and Nigerians prince is still waiting to handover his money since 2002

There are many types of fraud possible in p2p like scammers can do.charge back.

Have been using p2p for ages. Have never been scammed thank Goodness. However there are some basic guidelines doing p2p that you should follow to avoid trouble.

1. Always use irreversible payment modes like Bank Transfer. Never use nor accept card payment modes, or paypal or any such like.
2. Look for users who have done very many transactions and quite a number of those transactions are medium to big size transactions. Anyone with many transactions and almost all are tiny transactions might be the beneficiary of an engagement group boosting the account. Also, rating should be at least 98%.
3. Do small test transactions first and see if you get no complaints from your bank within at least a week.
4. Restrict yourself to just 3 or 4 sellers/buyers whom you have successfully dealt with before. Do not always go for the lowest price and then end up having transactions with different people every time. If you do this , sooner or later you will transact with a bank account that either is being watched or is already flagged for potential fraud/ money laundering/tax evasion/crypto trading etc , thereby risking getting roped in to whatever troubles that account owner is already into.

Those are my guidelines and I have done hundreds if not over a thousand p2p transactions and have never been scammed nor gotten into any government trouble (because banks in my country are mandated to flag any account associated with crypto)

Crypto has been a lifesaver for me for making and receiving payments without hassle. It used to be a nightmare in the past and p2p has really made things a lot easier.

I agree with you. People need to be careful when trading on P2P crypto exchanges.

Such people already have ideas. Government should have strict action against such people.
