My site is around 10 days old and still in the sandbox (published 10 articles 2 are indexed till now). Should I start placing ad banners and affiliate links or pop ups from now ? Or should I wait for the sandbox period to be over (like when I start seeing at uptick of visitors) ?
Also, is there a threshold for placing adverts on your site beyond which google penalizes your SERP rankings?

Yeah, there's really no point in adding either links or ads in the first stages of a website's life, as they won't bring in anything and would only hit your website's speed and overall UX.

Yep I kind of figured it out with the display ads. But why not the affiliate links? They slow down a page too?

I see it more another way with affiliate links. You should give out more of a helpful website when you are in sandbox and then slowly start to push affiliate links. If your website reeks of affiliate links, your website will look more like a promotional one than a helpful one.
