Competitor has 30k Backlinks from a single domain - Does it actuy helps SEO?

Hi guys,

My main competitor has 650 Referring domains but 40k Backlinks. One of these domain link him 30k times.

Does it actually help in some way?

Or it would be better to have 650 Referring domains (High DA/DR etc), but being linked 1=1?

Having 30k backlinks from the same domain is unnatural to say the least but we need to understand why and how s/he has 30k backlinks from 1 domain.

PS: at the same time Reuters can have 30k backlinks from the same domain and it's totally fine... that's why we need more info.

It happened to me with a spam blog of mine. Suddenly, due to an error I had like 50k backlinks from like 20 domains lol. It actually helped my backlinked site lol!

Links from a single domain don't carry as much weight as they used to. As Google continues to update its algorithm, it places more emphasis on other factors such as links coming from unique domains, etc

Usually, they are considered SPAM. Still, in some cases, they do not affect negatively. Last year I created some support tickets on Wordpress.org & other websites and found around 8K links for that site but no effect.

Yes! Links you build should have at least some benefit to your site, either in terms of ranking or authority. It's not just about backlinks!

Linking from the same domain multiple times gives you less value(pass very less link juice) and may indicate that seems unnatural. Your links may be considered spam.
If you are building links with high authority domains, a 4:1 ratio is fine, but ensure that all of the links are not all pointing to one page (to add value and benefit to your site).

Build links to all the inner pages in order to diversify your backlink profile.

right. ages ago footer links (example: wordpress theme linking back to creator's site) used to carry weightage. now, google will +1 for single link, and skip other site-wide links to same domain.

It's not spam... just check the footer of BHW: "Design by: Pixel Exit".
But seo value of those links is very low.

Building excessive amount of backlinks from the same domain not really provides much value. To be on the safer side, build optimum amount of backlinks from the same domain.
