SaaS is when the app cannot be cracked or easily copied because it's hosted on someone's server.
So it's just an app on the internet people access through their web browser.
BTW it's hard model if you want to sell software. Nobody wants to pay recurring payments.
I would just sell at one time payment of $79 or $179 depending on software complexity and let them do whatever.
Everything depends on your situation and how bad you need the money.

Yeah I agree. As a user, I don't like the subscription model. It's like selling a car that doesn't change much year after year, but you're still receiving payments like it does. That's one of the hidden agenda for online businesses that resort to subscription models, they want consistent revenue without the burden of pressure to improve or upgrade their product.

when it comes to business software, people want to pay recurring fee to ensure that they are getting the latest and not have to worry about backup, virus, data theft and ultimately want a software provider that will continuously have to take care of you in order to get paid on a regular basis

I think this is not the type of software I meant. Here you would have custom pricing and pretty much everything adjusted to your needs. It becomes more of a custom software development with high maintenance fee due to its enterprise nature. Most SaaS are for mass client and they don't offer what you described.
