I had same problem.

I built a whitehat site and a black hat site in the same niche, targeting the same keywords.

My white hat site got slaughtered and my black hat site is stable.

I would wait until the update is over and try using some high quality PBN links on one of your sites.

Make sure your content is spot on.

a week after google update. it seems that all my website traffic is getting totally destroyed. The keyword that was originally in position 1 is now gone from the search.
I can't understand why my website can lose to spammy aggregator sites

I feel You brother. Same happend with me. From #1 To Out of google.

Semrush sensor is high again so google is still running the update.
We have to wait it out and see how it ends... too early to panic or make changes.

My site is also hit and I lost 15% of traffic. I didn't lose all the traffic because I am there for more than 7 years with some high-quality natural backlinks but yeah, this is repeating every year and I am almost 1/4 times my actual traffic since my site started to get hits in the previous years.

There is one thing I can advise about how to make affiliate websites those days it would be to get affiliate links only on a minority of the pages of your website.
I see too many affiliate websites overloading their websites with affiliate links on almost every page. I see those websites not aging very well update after update.
I have one general Amazon affiliate website like this I bought from someone else and it is falling down whereas I have another website (natural authorithy links + PBN links) with Amazon products on less than 30% of pages doing pretty well compared to all the other Made For Amazon competitors in my niche.

Being whitehat/blackhat doesn't mean much those days. The days where you had thousands of articificial backlinks are gone and modern blackhat technics can look natural if done correctly. It the whitehat content is too poor/artificial for the reader to attract natural links there is no point in looking absolutely whitehat.

i think you are right. Looks like the ratio needs to be higher on the informational content side.

I noticed yesterday that one of my biggest competitors is totally gone, and their sister site which is just rehashed garbage from the main one has tanked as well.

In contrast I've seen an increase in traffic from 100 or so visits per day to over 250 per day. Whether this is going to continue to be case remains to be seen. On my site, there's a few pbns, niche edits and Reddit posts.

It has a lot of review and best of pages and only a few informational pages, but the content is informative, and the onsite time is high and the bouce rate is low.
