Trust mainly. Reddit users are picky on fresh accounts so they look at your post & comment karma to see if ur real, not talking crap etc.

reddit karma only allowing you to start your own subreddit and join some exclusive communities. Other than this i don't think there is other use of karma

I could see this being big if you created a subreddit, it blew up, and then you could post videos from your youtube channel on it all day. Any other ways to monetize a subreddit you own?
