Feeling all alone in this world

hi,
long story short. I was working in a different city than my native place for the last 6 years. Now due to corona, I am stuck at home for the last 3 years. No social life nothing.
Now I feel like I am all alone in this world. Thanks to bhw now my monthly earnings are more than my yearly income from a regular job. Now I have everything that I was looking for in my whole life. But deep inside I am not happy. I have already taken a vacation of like 30 days but it's of no use. I don't know what the reason neither I can share it with anyone. How is your social life as a freelancer and do such thoughts ever come to your mind? do share your suggestion or tips.

I can feel what you're experiencing mate, my advice is you go back to where you were born and make your life there if possible.

What else do you like to do? I work a 9 - 5 and also do IM, but I love music and play guitar. All my good friends are musicians, I just meet random ass people all the time because they want to play music. If you want to socialize it's a good idea to find people who are interested in the same things as you are, at least that is how it works for me.

Join social apps, find yourself a girlfriend that wants you for your money.... keep her around and go do social things with her... until you find someone better that doesn't just want you for your money.

Also, join gym... talk to other people at the gym - especially during the day.

Those people are middle class and can afford to go to the gym during the day, its good to become friends with people like that.

This could just be a phase. Not sure how old you are but it could just be mid life/existential “crisis” kind of thing. I’ve gone through something similar multiple times in my life where I just found no joy in anything. I didn’t find excitement in things that interested me before. Sometimes it was depression. Sometimes I just needed to let it pass. Sometimes I needed to let things go.

Whatever happens, I hope you feel better and get back on your path that makes you happy.

I know how you feel, luckily I still hang out with my sister and her boyfriend so it's not completely shit.

That's the dark side of freelancing. Many people dream of working from home and making a lot of money, but they don't know how fucked up it can get. I developed a social anxiety cause I wasn't hanging out with anyone for a long time.

The loneliest a lot of people feel is when they are surrounded by people. You can have lots of friends, be with family etc and still feel lonely. You need to think about whether your perceived lack of social life is really behind your feeling of loneliness. It’s not often as simple as this.

My old Karate instructor in high school was a peculiar man. He was ‘normal’, had children and grandchildren he lived with, had a well paying job and also taught part time as a lecturer at a university but he used too spend a lot of time talking to a mannequin on his porch when he thought nobody was watching. I feel it was a coping mechanism to deal with a sense of alienation. Maybe not the best one but probably not a bad one either for him. Look for a mechanism. Don’t put your faith to remedy this in other people, be it something as serious as a wife to trivial as some drinking buddies, because it’s not fair on them - especially for serious commitments, and will probably lead in disappointment for you too.

Thanks for sharing your problem with us i understand you, i feel the same way for a long time. i think it's all because of your freelance work. i feel that i am lonely and lack of communication. yes, vacations are not happy either. but maybe a change of scenery? i think in winter to fly for three months to sri-lanka or bali. i will work there. can you also take this idea?
