Just be sure you made a backup, before you start to update your site(s).

I need a little help regarding re-usable blocks.
Suppose on a single post I created two re-usable blocks and saved them, and save the post. And when I create new post, and want to use both the re-usable block, I can only find only 1 listed (the first one I created) and never the 2nd, 3rd or 4th one.

Hope this gets solved in WP 6.0

anybody in the know, do we get some performance gains? tbh I get all I need design-wise from oxygen so I am not particularly excited haha. but if it makes my stuff go a little faster, that's always appreciated.

A couple of performance improvements.

They have made some improvements to the wp Caching API. There are now bulk API methods for several Caching Operations. Some new media metadata (like adding filesize to the metadata now. Earlier plugins needed to query Wp Media API to get the filesize for any media File).

If you use Taxonomy features of wordpress, there are some improvements there too.

There are subtle but some important changes. Too quick right now to say how big a difference they will make tho.

Did they address that point about WP making 4-12 different sized images of images and taking up all your shared hosting inodes after a few hundred posts? (or I should do VPS for unlimited inodes I heard).

How about loading speed, image comrpression, lazy-load? Any changes?

Those 4-12 different sized images are so that your images stay responsive and look decent on smaller displays and so you don't waste bandiwdth sending a 1400px width image and resizing on a smal screen instead of sending a 300px image.

It's a feature, not a bug.

If you don't want wordpress to do that. Go to Media Settings -> Image sizes and zero out all the values.

Thanks @RoiBox , I wasn't aware that Gutenberg means simple JSON. Until now I just saw the slow Gutenberg editor and installed instantly the Basic editor. Apparently I have to work on my prejudices concerning the new block schema.

Yes, I´m a classic editor guy myself to, but I am really warming up to this new way of Gutenberg and the new theme editor, I`m taking my time to learn it .. =)

I just installed a fresh install of 6.0 and added jannah theme + demo content all posts + pages return 404 if I update permalinks to SEO friendly. (/cat/post/ or /post/
Did anyone experience something similar?

Hosted on VPS, ubuntu 20.04 openlitespeed and i have 3 other sites on the same server, which did not auto-update, and these sites work fine. I have tried to upload older sites also to a new WP 6.0 install and the same issue, so it seems it can only be WordPress 6.0 + my setup that is causing this.

I am a server donk and use a cloudpanel to manage my severs. Does anyone have any idea where I should start to look to fix this?

If you don't want wordpress to do that. Go to Media Settings -> Image sizes and zero out all the values.

Right! Zeroing down all image sizes you don't want will automatically work with all future uploads. But all pre-existing thumbnails must be deleted manually. Not difficult though, as they have the same names followed by the size.

Also, if you notice that there are other sizes that you needed and were not available before, simply specify the sizes you need in the boxes and that will work with all future uploads too. For the pre-existing posts, you can download the free "Regenerate Thumbnails" plugin to generate for the old posts all the custom sizes you specified.
