How much are facebook groups AND pages really worth?

I know it depends on many factors, such as niche (targeted, untargeted, age group)

and of course if its a page or group, as pages dont loose the message all function I believe ?

But im wondering the overall average price.

I theres a thread where apparently 1 guy sold a 1 million page facebook group for 10k...

I think thats crazy and dare i say hard to believe?

So, im asking anyone who has recently or ever really sold fb groups/pages, how many members and how much did you sell it for?

and if you could include if it was just general (ie. i like cats, or I like poker and wish to be directed to a cpa offer nao type group)

Dont say ur niche or anything, jsut a "targetted" or "untargetted"
also if it was a group or fan page as those must be valued drastically different.

Well targeted helps lol, the click through rate of targeted groups is very low, and many members are more likely to report it as spam if it has nothing to do with the venue you are advertising it on.

Personally I believe the person who started that thread, as i had a group that made me around 7k - 9k and that was just a group, i never spammed, i just had advertising on it, related to the group. i must have pulled 300,000 hits from that one group alone and unfortunately it was closed only 2 days ago

this is not the reason i believe him though, the reason is because its easy to market something at a high price and target high profile customers, as long as something is marketed correctly it can be done, plus this was one of the first things of its type to come into the market place that it was on, so people thought it was worth how much it was marketed for, other people came along and when there were no more buyers at that price it started going down. very fast lol. just like mafia wars items, when i first got into it and started making accounts ready to make items, the price was $100 per 100 top Cuba items, by the time i was able to make them the price was as low as $6 per 100, i managed to get $35 per 100 as i had 30 large mafia wars groups, so i put the message out and just played the numbers game, but i dare say that the marketing had something to do with it.

I don't think you could achieve a price like that anymore, unless you had a contract with a large company to populate them a fan page to communicate with.

In the end, thats what will really determine the price...
If you have a broad group but a TON of members - I recommend just holding on to it and using it to launch websites/promote offers...just my 2 cents

Its worth the same as everything is worth... the sum someone is willing to pay for it...
When there is someone paying 10,000 for a 1,000,000 page - its worth that for him

Absolutely - I've seen them go for several 'k' on Flippa before - both groups and pages - Its a little more complicated than selling just a typical website - but trust me, I've done it before and seen others do it...

You'll get a few comments like "Omg, wth is this doing on Flippa" but they'll be mixed in with other comments like "I will pay you 6k for your retarded "I Like Onions" fan page

No chance. Don't believe this for one second.

a) It's impossible to verify a group/page as Flippa require a verification file on the site before auction goes live - so it would never be seen by anyone.
b) I listed an app there the other day (including verified domain) and they removed it within 6 hours.
c) Facebook would ban the group/page immediately.

If you can prove it I would be amazed

The trick is to place your confirmation code on the website/blog you used to confirm the Fan page...

Its all in the wording of your ad, too - you're not selling the 'ownership' but rather the people and time invested into creating something of that size...

I do agree, its basically impossible to barge onto Flippa and straight up promote your page/app - but if you're creative with your wording and you dont claim ownership over something FB rightfully owns, you'll be good to go

When I sold my Snowball Effect group for $10k I had to have a contract made and everything...It was legit. Marketing and PR firms love this "Social Media" craze and the ability to send messages and offers to hundreds of thousands, even millions of people. My friend has a 350,000 person group and has been making $200/day with a targeted CPA offer. It took him awhile to find the right CPA offer, but once you find the right offer you can make bank. It will also increase the price of your page if you have an active twitter account and blog hooked up to it. But please, by all means, don't try to make and sell pages, you'll steal some of my spotlight.

Thanks for clearing that up guys - Flippa have banned me a few times for breaking their rules in auctions so remove a ton of my stuff, which probably accounts for that.
