Elon Musk since the last 1 year has lost his mental balance because he is incapable of handling fame and also thanks to his excessive consumption of strong weed (destroys the brain cells fast). I think Elon is far from unstable.
We don't see behind the scenes. He could be planning / or was interested in buying Twitter way sooner than he told the public. We don't see many things and I think it's stupid to make such an assumptions if you know what I'm saying

I don't think it is window shopping, he has a valid point.
Bots are a menace on social media platforms. You don't want to spend over $43 billion dollars on platform you were told bots only constituted less than 5% of it's user base. Only to realize after finalization of transaction that they constitute upto 20%. That would be billions of your money wasted.
Not to talk of the fact that he is buying Twitter at a price much more higher than the value of the company.

it goes 2 ways, either Elon never had any intention to buy twitter, he was just
messing with them, worse case scenario , a fine he can afford
or
if the true amount of twitters actual daily traffic is 5/10/15/20% lower
than twitter said it was, then Elon is over paying and should re negotiate

My bet is both. He went in at a lower price, then he shorted Twitter knowing that a dump will come and in the end he will buy it for 4-5 times less.

ive been seeing bits on the news in the UK saying the bot accounts could
be anything from 5-50% of fake accounts, if thats anywhere near true
the price of twitter could be very over inflated .....

But seriously, Twitter estimates that they have 5% of their daily users as bots. The reality may be MUCH higher. He has put it on hold to conduct an investigation. I read a good article explaining this. Basically if it turns out that the daily bot traffic is considerably higher than 5% Twitter could be sued by it's advertisers for falsly quoting the reach of their ads as well as by it's regular users who built an audience expecting it to be 95% real people. If that happens and Elon owns the company, he's responsible for the company and the judgements. His investment could go to nothing if the judgements are high.

Elon Musk thinks he is the smartest person in EVERYTHING. He does not even have the basic emotional intelligence to know that no one is smart in everything.
