Any thoughts on using a proxy instead of a VPN. Because if you're doing some sensitive work e.g. Freelancing or managing multiple social media accounts, it might not be the best idea to use a VPN since your real IP can leak using a VPN. Proxies are the best alternative to VPNs.

Anyhow, I believe Hot-Spot Shield and Zenmate works well if you're aiming for something free.

I recommend Openvpn instead of using third party vpns. That makes sure noone has log about your site visits (but obviously, this does not mean you will use the vpn for doing illegal stuffs. Your server provider will not like that if you do).

Use this script to make a server without much tech knowledge (but you still need to know how to run a shell script)

Login to ssh by typing (windows/linux/mac)

ssh [email protected]

After logging in (make sure you are root, or the commands won't work properly), first update your vps by issuing

apt update && apt upgrade -y

Then download the script by issuing

wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Nyr/openvpn-install/master/openvpn-install.sh

Then make sure the file downloaded by issuing

ls -lat

There should be a file called openvpn-install.sh

Now, turn the file into an executable by issuing

chmod +x openvpn-install.sh

Then simply run the sh file by issuing

./openvpn-install.sh

It will ask you a few question, and do everything by itself.
