What should I know before I proceed with producing a product for my first client

Hi,

One of my client want to produce a product for them, My current factory ask me for a deposit 30% before production and after the product is finished they ask for full payment.

How should I deal with this with my client? Should I ask for a deposit or full payment before shipping to him?
Should I create a contract? What should I include in that contract?
