So I'm about to hit 1k subs and I already have 4k hours watch time and I'm planning to apply for monetization as soon as I hit 1k subs.
My channel has a mix of Shorts and normal videos.
The shorts are "stolen" videos but I've kept them because they bring me a lot of subs compared to my normal videos.
My normal videos are my own 100% and I've already exceeded 4h watch time with these.
Now my question is: will my Shorts cause a problem in getting monetized, or will youtube focus on my normal videos?

Leave the shorts on your channel until the engagement of those die out. Do not post any new shorts. After the engagement of the shorts die out and don't give you subs anymore, delete them and apply for YPP.

Additionally, make a new channel for your shorts only and redirect the viewers to your main channel.

I have the same problem

I would highly advise deleting the shorts prior to applying for YPP. They will definitely check them to see if they are unique content.

As @SkeetSkeet34 mentioned, make a new channel for your shorts and keep that growing separately. You can redirect the subs once you have built it up.

In the past I had got demonetized for reuploading shorts videos that I got from TikTok. Keep only original content on your channel

You can re apply again right ?
Do you have to delete the shorts ?

Delete help? I thought youtube can recover deleted video and see them? When they put a copy strike on your channel and remove the video, you can get video back if you win....

Hide the Shorts. I'd delete them completely, they aren't of any use especially if they don't generate views anymore. Yeah, you might have millions of views on some, but clearing it up is better.

not really u can apply for monetisation dont worry about it

Even if you delete, they can see those videos. So, you have nothing to loose by applying. If you get approved, share with us. The views you got from shorts do not count for review though.
