It's not that difficult to find a woman who earns her way.
Get an apartment in a financial district, or maybe next to a med school. You'll find tons of high quality women.
Dudes really live on a ranch then complain they can't find anyone good.

The guy's statement whom I initially quoted implied that he'll marry someone with more money than him and that way he won't be a victim.
Most times women marry those with more money than them. So if you live in said neighborhood, town or city and you don't financially measure up, still nothing for you. By the way, I'm not complaining.
There's an overwhelming number of men who have fallen victim, and they are everywhere with their stories.
Rich guys are the worst victims.

If you think a girl is playing games with you, chances are you should turn around and leave. Let's evaluate realistically, games are for kids. As an adult, if you like someone, you should be honest and say what you think. You don't like someone? Cool, do it, because everyone deserves honesty in communication.

That's a good way to look at things.
In my opinion, the only incentive for a man to get married is to start a family. I'm sure at a certain age those paternal instincts kick in. I've been with my current girlfriend for almost two years and have already made a pact with myself that IF I want to get "married", I will agree to a formal wedding ceremony but not sign the actual legal documents. That way, if shit hits the fan, my assets are protected.
It sucks that this is how things have to be, but it's the world we live in.

Damn dude, I'm sorry this happened to you. Do you mind elaborating on the signs of infidelity your partner showed (if any)? Was she generally very respectful to you? Were things good in the bedroom?
I'll transparently say that this is a big fear of mine. Even when not married, cheating on your partner is the highest level of betrayal in my opinion. This type of thing seems to happen often - personally, I don't think I'd ever be able to trust a woman again.
