Please weigh in and give your experience:

-YT SHORTS ON AN INDEPENDENT CHANNEL THAT REDIRECTS TO THE MAIN ONE

vs

-YT SHORTS ON THE MAIN CHANNEL

What are the pros/cons of each (short term, long term)?
Waiting for your input. Many thnx.

Unless you’re looking to redirect traffic from shorts from several channels, I don’t see why you can’t just upload them on your main channel? Shorts traffic is a bit iffy anyway. Good luck having them redirect to any destination.

The pros of the first one is that it can get you more views engagement and subscribers to your channel the cons are that it can feel like you're spamming your main channel and that you can end up losing some subscribers who watch your short videos on your independent channel because they're annoyed when they go back to your main channel

Uploading YouTube shorts on your main channel is fine. You could mix shorts with long videos, I do it without problems.

First, Thank you for the answers.

Could YT penalize any of these two channels precisely for spamming since the owner is the same ?

1) The alleged downside is the watchtime. Are shorts not said to hurt the channel's watchtime ? I read this more than once, hence my question.

2) Would redirecting from TikTok be anyway more effective than using Shorts either on the main YT channel or from a secundary YT channel ?

3) Or do both: YT shorts + TikTok. But may I reuse my own original YT shorts as Tiktok videos or vice-versa without being banned for reused content even if this content is legally mine ?

Thank you.

My best suggestion is to stay miles away from shorts even if they give millions of views. The are really bad in the longrun. I am so against shorts.

Do you have a personal experience with them or is it an impression you have ? And would redirecting from TikTokbe any better ?

personal experience. and I don't understand your last question, maybe you can explain it better.

If shorts are not good on the main channel, and not good either on a secundary channel (since @Yes seems to say the redirecting ratio is poor), is TikTok the best solution to direct traffic from it to YT ?

If your shorts are doing well and getting views steadily, it cannot affect your channel.

Do not upload on main channel. Make a different shorts channel for this. Both audience is different and have different needs.

driving traffic from TikTok to your YouTube channel/video is a very good strategy to gain views and can help you massively in also getting organic views from non subscribred viewers as well.

OK, so I'm not surprised that this thing remains moot to say the least. Let's sum up the 3 latest advice:
-@Ateporos: "YT shorts on the main channel is OK"
-@k2h2: "No it's not"
-@SkeetSkeet34: "Tiktok is the way to go".
Thank you to the 3 of you, your responses are appreciated but they leave me irresolute (or Should I go with a poll here ?)

Did you experience this yourself ?

Driving traffic from external sources such as: social media (twitter, instagram facebook, tiktok), google search etc. is always top tier traffic for your youtube videos (if the people coming from this traffic 1. watch your video at least 80% and 2. have a similar watchhistory with the same kind of content you post) Also end screen traffic is also very very good.

So in conclusion:

external traffic and/or endscreen traffic are the best. They can trigger your videos to go viral.

Загрузка короткометражек YouTube на ваш основной канал — это нормально. Вы можете смешивать короткие ролики с длинными видео, я делаю это без проблем.
do you have a monetized channel?

Bro, make a separate channel with shortы. Send viewers from this channel to the main channel. Then you will sleep peacefully!

dont ever do shorts on your main channel ever ever except u are like 10m subs and dont care !
ive tryed to redirect videos from shorts channel to my main no succes including pin the comment with the video and share it in community tab !

Do not mix short videos with long ones. It is confusing for the subscribers. Have a separate channel for shorts.

Nah you are right. Barely anyone looks into shorts comment section, let alone the description. It's meant to be a "short" experience for users. No one cares to interact with the content. Since 99% of the views come from shorts feed. People just swipe to the next video when they are done watching yours. I've seen shorts channels grow over 100k subscribers and gain 100 views on their normal videos max. It's just not worth it at all.

No, I disagree. You can upload shorts to your main channel without problems. Remember to categorize it .
