The photo editing niche is saturated. There are a lot of freelancers in that field. It will be difficult for you to get your first order. My advice is while those gigs rank, try to do a research on Fiverr and find some services with low competition. I am not into photography but there are low competition services in every niche.
Always, the researcher gets more money than the talented one. So spend more time on research. It is good you have a helping partner. You can focus on research and getting clients while she focuses on the editing part.

Also, create 5 more gigs. The more gigs, the higher your chance.

First of all, I hope you and your wife and family are safe out there.

Before anything, you have to understand the whole process of Fiverr or Upwork, or any other platform.

It's not that easy to get your gig in front of 1000s people to see and start getting orders.

There is a whole process of learning, which I'm sure you are aware of and you know by now...

The trick many people use today to boost their offers/gigs - is REVIEWS [fake].

For example, here on BHW, you have a WTB [Want To Buy] section where you can simply explain what you need and get 1 or 10+ reviews or 100s [depends on a budget] by paying anywhere from $1 to $2, $3, $4, $5 or $10 depending on sellers, basically paying small fees for their reviews on your gig.

All this is not necessary as you can do it without reviews, and also, doing reviews is not like "guaranteed" you will start receiving orders after those reviews.

Anyway... The problem #1 for all new sellers is exactly this, how to get your service out there so people can see it?

It may take a few months or even years to build up your reputation...

My suggestion is to take some time and start reading about all possible solutions, there are 100s of platforms where you can sell photos, it doesn't need to be Fiverr or Upwork, just take some time to do your own research.

I am no expert in this field, but would like to help.
Other members mentioned that photo editing is quite saturated, and yes, that's probably very true.
Do you target "broad" spectrum of photo editing?
For example you could go with more concentrated "micro niches". Something like:
"I will make/eddit quality pictures that will boost your instagram/social media engagement"
"I will make fb ads pictures that will boost your sales"
"I will make your social media profile photo more beautiful"
"I will make original/unseen effecta on your profile photo/picture"
"I will make original/personal stickers/car stickers for you"
Or for offline business:
"I will make professional business cards"
"I will make ad picture for your restaurant/other business"
and etc.

I can't guarantee that this would work, as I said I am not expert in this field, but maybe it's good for brainstorming" and would help you to get some ideas.

It depends, as I'm not sure how many people sell the same thing as you and your wife are trying to sell.

If competition is huge 1 - 5 reviews will not help that much.

If competition is "normal", I guess it might help...

I mean, it will help that's for sure, people will buy from reputable sellers with 10/100+ sales (in 9 out of 10 cases) than someone with 0 or maybe 5 sales [e.g.].

Glad to help . I just made those examples "on the go" when replying to your thread, just to give you direction It's possible to think more of those more specific gigs. I learned this thing in BHW When you are starting and don't have very big budget, then don't go for a broad niches, because you will not be able to compete with giants. You have to go with small sub niche of a niche, where there's low competition.
Example I just thought, if you want to have a e commerce store, you won't go and sell everything, and do what amazon does, because it would be impossible to compete with such a giant, you go with one or few very specific products in your store.
