Site With 1,387 Backlinks Worth How Much?

Hi,

I got this dating related site with domain that has 1 niche-keyword in it.
The site doesn't get much traffic because it's aimed to rank for VERY COMPETITIVE keywords.

Top ranking sites for these keywords have like 50,000+ backlinks it's crazy.

Anyway a friend told me I should sell it.

The reason I'm thinking of selling it is because I will use a new domain that I found for the site.

Domain has PR2...
As for content I'm turning the site into a blog with 50+ articles by me.

How much is that worth over $2,000?
More or less?

If I sell it the new owner would need to focus on some less competitive keywords to rank at the top for that.

Let me know your thoughts.

Unless the domain is valuable. If you have no traffic and the domain itself isnt valuable the website is only worth what its earning. If its making nothing its really worth nothing. Unless like I said, the domain is valuable.

I've used it as a sales page, probably why traffic sucked...
5-40 visitors per day.

Sales letter conveting but my main keywords are near impossible to rank for.

So I think it's better if I sell it, I'm now in the process of turning it into an article blog using WP that should increase the traffic right away.

So until I get some good offer for this domain/site I've decided to feed my new sales site with traffic through it.

I think someone would buy this domain if he was aiming to rank 1st for a keyphrase, but didn't want to waste time building links to the site.
Assuming top ranking sites for the "keyphrase" hass less than 1,300 backlinks.

So the only value is:
Backlinks
PR2
Little Traffic
Content

I don't even need the domain, so I won't be greedy I just want some cash to cover some new investments I've been doing lately.

So say you had some spare cash to throw away, how much would you pay?
Should I put this on some auction site like Flippa etc?

It's not affiliate links, it's links I got from commenting and trading links with other sites.

No it will not. A domain will lose its pr ONLY if the domain lose backlinks, or goes expired. I sold domains with pr and the pr stayed just fine with the new owners.

The OP though could make the domain into a blog and post unique content. After a couple of weeks he should see his traffic grow.

The only way a domain will lose PR is if it significantly changed. If all content stays the same for the most part and the theme of the site doesn't change, you won't have any problems. Now if the domain is changed or the site is completely changed, then it will lose its PR. This is from my personal experience and a few others as well.

Nope it wont ... as long as the backlinks stay and the domain doesn't expire it wont lose PR on the next updates.I have tested that with numerous sites a few months ago and none of them lost PR.


And regarding OPs' question the site wont be worth more than $100 ( domain + the 50 articles) unless you bring more traffic to it or better yet generate some revenue

Sorry to say but unless the domain is really good you won't be getting anything over $500 for it.
