Rapid increase in domain authority (DA) and domain rating (DR).

Hello,

On Fiverr, I see a lot of gigs that offer a service to increase domain authority (DA) and domain rating (DR). What is your opinion on that. How do they do it? Can this be useful for the SEO of our site, or maybe bring more damage?

From the SEO perspective it's useless (I don't think it's harmful).
They do it to sell "guest posts" or "PBN links". It's easy to do... just use google redirects and your DA will be around 50.

I was on a call with another SEO guy yesterday and we were looking at some of these garbage sites and they're utter crap just using Google redirects etc.

The people who see a DA50 for $25 inc content, who are buying on price, who have no idea about SEO, people who like cartoon services or are doing churn and burn.

Sadly you cannot educate stupid.

Mostly, they prefer the high potent PBN and niche based guest post sites for increase the Metrics of the sites.

Because i m telling you better use google redirects and keep quality percentage high than buy junk pbn links with high spam score for x100 price.

So, to answer your question. I 've ranked websites using google redirects and i have ranked websites without them. Not the most effective service, definitely cheap (or bad) for a SEO expert who would sell a backlink for 2k, so you get my point.

Do you think there is a danger that Google will penalize the site for that? Does Google even consider the DA and DR of a site when ranking it in search results?

It won't. Google doesn't care a lot these days. I 've seen websites with 70% spam score dominating entire niches, just because their domains are 10+ year old. I know people will complain hard for saying this but i don't care
