How do VPN company’s make money. I’m doing some market research and interested in their business structure. Do they rent servers all over the world and then route traffic through them? please send me a link to more information on this cheers

You pay for accesing their network, they host servers and pay for VPN software with your money. The difference is their profit.

Yea basically. You get a cloud provider to host your instances across seveeal countries. You then get a VPN stack to run on these servers.Your users use your VPN client to connect to these servers.

Most VPN providers will just get aVPN stack and make their routing middleware in-house.

NordVPN for example, uses the OpenVPN stack. So they got a bunch of servers to prevent network congestion on each of their locations, and they give you a client that runs the openvpn client with their routing middleware which decides which server to connect in that region.

Hosting is really cheap these days: like $4 per months when you buy for a year, from services like AmeriNoc. I remember they had a $83/yearly plan.

For VPN business, hosting (bandwidth) isn't cheap, bandwidth cost is the main cost of a VPN business. you need very good line to run a VPN business, those $/mo VPS can't do the job

True but perhaps if you buy per Mbs? That saved me a lot instead of going the general per Gb route when movies were just introduced back in the day.

well, if you just wanna build a VPN for yourself, a 3 bucks VPS is good enough for your personal use, BUT if you talking about a "business" here, that is totally different
