How can I start a HOSTING Business?

lol :D
Do you recommend any other way of building recurring revenue?
I know a guy that made well into the 7 figures with an automated SEO service.

There are similar services out there now but they all suck so that might be something to look at.

someone desperately needs to make a decent blog post for "top white label saas businesses". i looked into this years ago. expect to do all the digging manually through google. playing with your kw queries you will eventually find some hits.
aside from that you can find an open-source software on github. download it. make a page a webpage for it. turn it into a saas. start marketing as usual. just go through the licensing involved by author. most allow for this kind of for-profit cloning with little attribution.

Github is a gold mine for those that do not mind doing a little digging... great call.

I did this in 2010 and it was good during that time. The main headache for hosting a business is customer support. I did it for around 1.5 years and i spent more than 70% of my nights coordinating with the technical support team and the end customers. This is the only reason I stopped my hosting business.

I personally feel, it still works, if you have top-notch USP. When I did it, I targetted CPA marketers and it worked.

another idea is find existing online business that has recurring sales model. send them an email asking if they have an affiliate program. frame yourself as marketing expert ready to send hot leads for rebill commission. if it all works out just skip to the end where you clone their site, operation, grow a list of customers, and make your sales exit.

If you can bring your clients give resellerpanel a try they are good, they handle support and everything for you.
The reseller plan is free means you don't need to invest anything, but the earning model is like you set your profits on their base prices.
Quick to start they had a wordpress plugin and also api to integrate and launch a website.
They have wide range of hosting products Cloud, VPS, Dedicated, domains also.
Only downside is they don't offer cpanel in the free reseller but their own control panel is very similar and easy to handle.
Cpanel reseller is a different paid product.

I have done this is past and not since last 3 years (so please check if anything has changed), since then I have migrated all my clients to their cpanel reseller product and high end users to managed cloudays servers.

I never sold these as individual products but as bundled with web dev & seo.

Look for an edge or an angle. A lot of businesses are actually just hosting businesses packaged as something else. Like a VPN service. Game servers. CCTV footage archive.

I would do simulator hosting if I did it today, like hosted Android or Raspberry Pi etc. Niche and not much competition. The website stuff is saturated to death.

Maybe resell video game servers and hosting?....still niche but more people buy on a whim then business hosting

Maybe resell video game servers and hosting?
Yeah, pretty interesting.
Actually, there is this video on how a guy built a profitable hosting business around a game. I think this is the video -

I wasn't sure how it would go but I know gamers are pretty hardcore with the ones I know. So I threw up a site and I did pretty well with just selling hosting for a commission, so if you actually owned the site and resold it I think your numbers would do really well as most people just throw money at gaming. The truth is basic servers are never enough with games nowadays, with mods, game saves, and having 9 people on a server whenever they want to play is not common anymore. Most games are hosted by a host which is temporary and only able to be accessed when the host is online, so servers are a must. I might have some old data I can send you for a month if you want to see it.

it's very easy. All what you need is a virtual server on the cloud and installing a web server on it like apache or nginx, then linking your client domains on the web server and that's it.
You can find cheap servers on Heroku or digitalOcean

Reseller Club offers a white label reselling solution with a brandable website on your own domain. If you can get your website ranked higher without spending on Adwords it can be a nice recurring income otherwise marketing cost and competition will demotivate you sooner or later.

Base on my experience when I was own VPN Website before I have setup my own servers which I have full access on serverside

Here's following tips

Get Linode Dedicated Or OVH servers and convert it into WHM

Second:
Buy license from Cpanel net

Third:
Buy WHMCS License don't use nulled script

Last thing is Design your WHMCS Website and your done.

Additional Security I suggest Bitninja
