It's all about creating a connection between what you're announcing and some controversial or hot trend that's important to a gov agency or gov contractor that has a .gov site

I own a local business in a particular state and having a link from that state gov site would help out tremendously, authority & relevancy. GOV links are some of the best links you can get.
