How should I decide my niche?

I'm asking this because I don't have many interests in life, and I'm also not an expert/super knowledgable at anything, so I'm having a hard time deducing what I should blog about.

For the people who are currently blogging who were once in the same boat: how did you decide your niche?

"not many interests" implies some interests, so just go with that, makes your blogging journey easier if you are at least a bit interested in the topic

You are getting mixed up with motivation. I am always adding to a research spreadsheet with hundreds of niches, and then prioritizing those based on different SEO tools.

Literally, just start somewhere if you are really stuck. You'll at the worst get sick of it, and think, "you know what, I'd rather have a blog about..." but by then, you will learn some of the processes you need to succeed.

Think of what you can talk about and go on for days and days and are super passionate about and do a couple trial and error posts somewhere, check the response you are getting on the posts and go ahead, also if you can read a certain topic for long hours that could also help you narrow down your interest
For instance, I enjoy the food space, i can watch different food videos (recipes, reviews, health and dietry benefits) which makes me strongly believe that i can try my hands on something in the food space. Hope this helps!

This is only my personal advide, but I really don't care if I love the niche or not, if there is money to take I will study the competition and based on that I'll go for the niche

I normally brainstorm on a couple of topics...ideally topics with buyer intent keywords...then I conduct KW research using tools like SEMrush and Wordstream. The goal is to find niches with good search volumes and low competition.

As we speak I have got sites in narrow-niche health topics, Finance, and Fishing (Amzn Affiliate). If you don't mind, I can help you with content writing as that's my core strength. Tq.

find a niche that you don’t know much about, that way you’ll be forced to go and research it. Put in the effort, get the reward.

I would say go after something u have at least a bit of interest in and it is trending. Check trends in google and see if the niche is on all lift or decline.

if you dont have any interesting niche to target, keywords research is the way you need to start first, just try to type something with "why, how, where, what, etc"

and use any free keywords research tools outhere, there are plenty of them, such as ubersuggest, key surfer, keywordtool io, Google keyword planner, and many more

For me, it all boils down to RETURN ON EFFORT

The niche has to have enough commercial value per 1000 page views

This also means you have to find a niche that has enough competing advertisers / sponsors

BUT

This factor has to be balanced by the following factors:

- how passionate you are about the topic (this goes to CONSISTENCY)
- if the niche is evergreen (non-evergreen = more effort = more expensive)
- how scalable the niche is in terms of monetization (can you go from Adsense to affiliate to custom products?)

Unless you plan on building a HUGE network of SHALLOW sites you need to use the analysis above or else you will LOSE MONEY
