I want to try the mother/child method with twitter. Using 100 accounts to like and retweet the main account. I want to know if it is possible to grow the main account without the child account sending dm. Just retweeting and liking.

Testing the same rn, we'll see. If your child accounts doesn't dm and mass follow/unfollow you should be fine.

OK... I'll share now.
Retweeting and liking from the same accounts leave a huge footprint so I don't do that.

Today is Saturday so it's a crappy day.
I use microworkers. So today in one hour I got 18 retweets (paid $0.20 for them). For free, I got 2 followers + 6 likes + 80+ real views (and 1 signup for my offer), all that on an account with 1 tweet and 1 follower. It's a crappy day today, on a weekday I'd get more than 50 retweets and extra likes/followers.

So paying for proxies + preparing content for the "children" is just not worth it.

So the child accounts just retweet and like?
Yes, but as @praetserge mentioned, it would be weird if you make them only interact with your mother account. Try to emulate a normal human behavior as much as you can. Follow multiple big/medium accounts in your niche and other niches, etc..

But mass retweeting without follow/unfollow, would it increase reach?

I don't mind the reach on those accounts as long as they are niche targeted, you can use them to generate engagement in your main account. They will gain followers if you make relevant non-spam comments tho.
