Just keep in mind that Telegram deletes your account if you stay inactive for 6 months. You can find this in settings > Privacy and Security > Delete my account > If away for > 6 months. You can change this to a maximum of 1 year.

But does this only relate to the cloud account or if i use Telegram for sending messages to friends and company I can keep my account active ?

They'll delete all your data if you don't login to your account within 6 months. The cloud data is a part of it. So, you'll lose all your files in cloud data if you just store them and abandon the account for more than 6 months. You should at least login to your Telegram account to keep the files safe.
