How do you avoid wasting time on BHW?

There's a lot of good content here, so reading is easily justifiable instead of doing actual work.

But I retain very little from just reading something. On the other hand, I'll remember most of it when I use it in a project.

One thing that comes to mind is to find a relevant thread, implement its teachings and only come back after it's done. But enforcing this on myself is a whole other issue.

Ideally, I'm looking for something that doesn't rely on willpower and will prevent me from using BHW as a form of procrastination.

Yeah, BHW can be a bit addictive.
That's why when I see something simple and interesting and easy to do, I do it right away.
For example, somebody shared a method for indexing links, it was a simple method so I tested it right away and only then moved on to read something different.
