Hi everyone! Am Ebukssmoney. Am new here. I would like to improve my blogging skills and I trust this community is safe and more reliable to help me succeed in my digital journey. Thanks!

First of all, welcome :)

Secondly, you need to do a lot of reading, learning and experimenting to become a good SEO / blogger. There are tons of guides and tutorials around this forum to help you become proficient at this skill, but you'll have to put the effort in, and be willing to... well... read, learn and experiment.

In a nutshell, ranking in google comes down to doing a few crucial steps properly, such as:

Step 1 - choose a niche that...

a) is profitable (you want to make money, so you need to choose niches in which people spend money)
b) is evergreen (you need the niche to get traffic year round, or else you might see long periods of inactivity and sales, which can be demotivating in the beginning)
c) you have a slight interest in (no matter if you're going to outsource the content creation to someone else, or you're going to create all of the content yourself you still need to be interested in the niche you've chosen, or else your motivation will die out, and your income might go down as well)
d) is not very competitive (if you get into tough niches when you are a newbie you will have a hard time ranking because some niches require experience and deep pockets. A few examples of such niches are: finance, travel, medical, business, self improvement and to some extent pets, technology, crafts, and few other niches, as well)

At the end of the day, you will still want to get into a big niche though, as big niches are profitable and evergreen. But you'll have to find a sub-niche in one of these big niches that you're comfortable targeting, and the good news is that - with the right keywords - you will be able to find such sub-niches that you can tackle. Which brings us to step #2...

Step 2 - find keywords that you can rank for fast, and without links. In general, with the right amount and quality of links you can rank any keyword in any niche, but quality links can be expensive, and as a newbie you need to be able to tell the difference between good links and bad links in order to avoid getting scammed, so you'll have to do some reading on this topic.

But this is not too important at this stage because you can rank and bank without a single backlinks, which is why I recommend you focus on finding easy keywords first and then creating and optimizing that content so you can get fast rankings (and hopefully a bit of income to keep you going)

To learn how to uncover easy keywords read this thread, and then choose one of the methods explained in there that you resonate with:

To learn how to create content that ranks read this guide created by one of our more experienced members:

Step 3 - choose...

a) a reliable hosting provider (check this forum for recommendations and special offers, or if you want, I can link you to a list of cheap hosting providers that I've created a few weeks ago where you can buy hosting for as low as $5 per year. Or just go with Namecheap, it's one of the most popular hosting providers around)
b) a professionally looking and / or brandable domain name (this might be one of the hardest things to do, but it's important if you're in this for the long run, so take your time to fry your brains out to come up with a good domain name, or else you might come out as a rookie / casual to your potential customers)

Step 4 - install Wordpress (or any other CMS you are comfortable with) choose a professionally looking, clean and fast loading theme, and install the important plugins (SEO, security, backups, etc.)

Step 5 - create a good silo structure for your site. A well structured website will help you both with google rankings, as well as easier navigation for your visitors (which in the end still means better rankings because one of google's ranking factors is the interaction between people and the sites they visit).

Unfortunately, I don't have a guide on how to structure your site properly at the moment, but you can almost certainly find one around the forum, or in google.

And that's about it! You do these 5 steps correctly and if you don't rank you are probably the unluckiest man alive (which is probably not the case :) )

And sure, there are more steps than these that you could do, but each step at the time. For now, it's important for you to...

- find a niche
- find some keywords in that niche that you can rank for fast and without headaches
- set your website up for better rankings and easier navigation
- create some content around those keywords, optimize it, then publish it on your site
- get that content indexed by creating a sitemap with the SEO plugin of your choice and submitting it to your Google Search Console

You have to build good backlinks for your website. Before that add informational content on your website.
