What would you say is the minimum amount of words an article should contain which you plan on getting traffic from?

I mean some questions really don't need 1000 words to explain it, it will just end up as fluff.

I should have said the following in the topic opener.

For topics that I dream up myself and there are no rivals on google covering it.

When there are rivals i do try and get around there word count ballpark cos that's what Google is telling us it likes.

The topic length isn't REALLY something to focus on once you pass 1000 words. If you want structured, informative pieces that are 3000+ words, you'll want to target multiple keywords.

What you really want to focus on is addressing every question that pertains to the keyword/niche. Try to really answer the searcher's question.

You should have a min of 1000 words. It's true that some articles don't require lengthy content, but that's what Google prefers to rank. I still find many people adding fluff to increase content length. So, it's better to maintain a min limit.

It really depends on the case. The standard is around 1400 words. But I have content that really only needs 300 and even then, playing around with Quilbot.
So I cheat. I don't push the writing when an article doesn't need 1400 words, but I reference it in another content, which is at least 1000 words. After a while, Google wakes up and references it.

I think, 800-1000 words article is good to go. However, unnecessarily don't expand a topic or subject body else, the reader will loose the interest.

Better to write in Bullets and try to cover all possible questions a user/ your target might have.

Write in natural way like you are explaining to somebody. Don't use more than 6-8 Keywords in 1000 words articles.

500-1500 words depending on the topic, most of my informative articles are ~1000 words and ranking ok without any backlinking.

It's best to use the text length of your competition as a guide.

See what the websites with a low DR are doing and follow their length if you also have a low DR website.

The number of words depends really on the topic you're writing about, as you really can't say that much about every topic, but you should still aim for at least 1000-1200 words, as here you can implement enough targeted phrases that can drive you more traffic.

To rank and get traffic, 200 words is more than enough for info content that doesn't have competition. However, if you plan to monetize with display ads, I'd recommend around 1000 words. It has nothing to do with the ranking but the revenue is higher with longer content.

It depends on your competitor. If your competitor has written the article for 1000 words and he is ranking number 1 then write 100-200 words more than that to outrank him.

Check all your competitors from page 1 to get an idea.
