google ranks pages, not domain.
after a period of time, all things will become fair.
so, shoot for it.

The answer to this depends on so many things you didn't tell us... It would depend on your domain name, and how much time and effort you're expecting to put in. How valuable the keywords are/how much traffic they get.

This isn't something that will happen in a month, but the reason why I think it's doable is there is a site at #7 with no links whatsoever.... I would assume that that is the exact match .com/.org domain of the keywords...but still, it's beatable. Some of the other sites look like affiliate/smaller company sites. Depending on how much effort you put into it, they should be beatable as well.

I would go or that...looks like an amazon page at the top...you can outrank them with a nice keyword rich page, with a solid amount of backlinks...it would depend on how much was in it...is it a money/buying keyword?
