Over 75% Traffic Dropped...

Hi,

Since I started link building four months ago my site's traffic was increasing or sometimes it was stable but since Jan 5th, 2022, the traffic is decreasing daily and it has already dropped more than 75%.

GSC, currently not showing any issues but last month it showed a CWV issue that I fixed last month... The issue probably occurred due to AdSense auto ads, so I removed some placements. But I'm not sure yet if the fix has helped or not as CWV haven't got updated yet. The graph also doesn't reflect the traffic drop, FYI.

Ahrefs also does not show any issues, instead, it has increased the overall health score from 95 to 100 in the last weekly audit.

Bing, it shows the traffic drop in the graph, so I assumed I got the hit from bing

Bing only shows this issue for about a month or so and I didn't take it seriously

Wondering what really happened that kicked out over 75% of the traffic suddenly.

Seeking expert suggestions to fix the issue and gain my hard earned traffic back...

I am sorry but we both are interpreting the graph in two different ways, I see issues coming from mid-November/December when your organic traffic tanked hard.

Traffic might have started to drop but the root of the issue began a few months before that.

Is this a local business? Because Google launched an update around November affecting local searches.

That update started around November 30, 2021, and ran through December 8, 2021, so it kind of matches perfectly with your situation.

I would look at that and other stuff you might of change or "optimized" back in October or November.

Thanks for pointing me to those articles but after reading I don't think anything was written there could be an issue.

Saying this because except for Adsense Auto Ads nothing is added to the site. It is last month I added Adsense auto ads (again) and then I noticed CWV issue then I removed some placements/units. I said "again" because about 4-5 months ago I added Adsense auto ads once but the site was breaking and then I completely removed auto ads and used only 3 banners ads (manual), at that time it didn't change anything in traffic though.

Also, another thing I forgot to mention in OP is that a few days ago, I restarted the VPS and it took a couple of minutes. I was getting trouble installing another project so I had to restart the VPS. Not sure, if it's the reason. Wondering about it, as the site got OFF for a couple of minutes.

No, my site is not a local business and I haven't done any change or optimized anything in OCT or NOV. Not even since I launched the site on Jan 28th, 2021

Since August, IIRC, then I fully concentrated on link building and I didn't touch the site for technical or content optimization or anything else. I use Ahrefs and it shows the health score fine so I didn't bother to check for technical stuff and there was no need to optimize for anything.

The only thing I did on the site was add/remove or increase/decrease Adsense ads, nothing else.

The above Bing graph was for the last 3 months, but the last six months graph is also the same. Bing was a savior for my site because when google didn't help at all at the beginning I was getting stable traffic from Bing. The traffic I started to get from Google is when I started creating backlinks.

This is a 12 month GSC graph, and when I checked the position I didn't see anything has dropped.

That's definitely a clue. Never use Windows for your web hosting.

Thanks for your input.
Our VPS hosting is Ubuntu, not Windows.

But also learned something from your post, that I should never use Windows hosting.
