SERP problem, site dropped 120 positions overnight

I have a site which is about 9 monts old. 2 weeks ago it dropped from position #30 to #150 in google.com for it's main keyword.

This site have for a long time been at position #75 for it's main keyword. But I use Angela backlinks and Backlink Booster. So within a week it had moved up to #30.

Here I started doing some stupid SEO stuff, I embedded more keywords into the title of the index page - learned later that what I did was devaluing the original keyword, adding extra keyword in the h1 tag -- devalueing there too... In addition I replaced some adsense adverts with amazone widgets. Learned now that this widget caused about 100 html validator errors. This widget is removed from the site. But still my site don't validate using the w3.org validator, it report when error, but that error cannot be found in the source code - looks like the source code has this css setting: frame-border:0px; which in the html output becomes border="0", so it report that border is not valid for that tag....

1 week ago I fixed the problem with having to many keywords in title and h1 tags, I set them back to what they were before.

But still I see no movements in the rankings, my site have been at about #150 for 2 weeks now. That is despite my site is very SEO optimized for this keyword, got keyword in domain name among other places - instantpositions.com FREE seo tool give my site 39/40 points for how well optimized it is for a specfic keyword. 40 points is the best. In addition I got around 100 backlinks to this site, including 2 .edu domains, one which is a PR8 .edu domain...

Anybody experienced this? Interesting in knowing what you did to overcome this problem? how long you had to wait? Is there more I can do than simply play the waiting game and create more backlinks?

Thanks for that. I googled it and learned that google updates it's index once every month. I already knew about google dance but didn't think this was google dance, because my site gets on different SERP each time I check it. but I learned that this minimal variation that I experience is just that google is using different data centers... so I have to wait before until google updates it's index for February.

I did check in Google Webmaster Tools, it reports that my site is slow to load

I think that might explain it, because when I experienced drop in SERP I had started using some banners on my site, banners from amazon.com instead of plain adsense
The index page consists of 411kb of data, I had to replace the banners with adsense, now index site is 217kb...

I also saw a youtube video of a guy at google talking about the google dance, where google updates their index every month, but he says google stopped doing that in 2003. Instead they release small updates to the index every day.
