GMB - Has verification just got a lot harder?

Hello guys,

I sent out a google verification postcard to a UK address, the verification code arrived but Google will not allow me to enter the code. Google is now requesting a Video of the location, equipment and proof of management.

I have hundreds of locals and this is the first time Google has ever asked for this additional information.

This is probably going to stop all the spam listings on the map and close the pin drop (no postcode) verification method.

Whats your thoughts? Anyone seen this before?

Google itself has said that GMB is going to change a lot, and even it's having issues with indexing business, as everything is changing to avoid spam, it's obvious that it will get hard now.

By default the video verification is meant to be an option, not mandatory for new listings.

it’s possible that your listing got flagged. You can do the video if it’s a real listing otherwise throw it away and remove your footprints and try again with a new gmail.

Interestingly, I logged into a real active google account on a brand new residential ip (remotely) and when trying to verify a BRAND new listing the video verification request popped up straight away!

Google are really cracking down!

Your listing triggered for re-verification.
This is normal now a days even when you try to verify less spammy category, phone verification will be triggered most of time

Yes re-verification via phone is no problem at all. But video verification is so much harder to manipulate.

Is there any work arounds?

I am not able to found any solution for this but i found another to get verify listings without any verification.

The only problem is google not accepting phone number edits so this method is useless for me.

I am still testing hopefully citations may help to change phone number

You done by e-mail verification?
I have done by my listing stuck in pending review mode.

Could you share what's the way you found to go around video verification? I'm having trouble finding a solution

A few things to try:
1) Logout for a few days, then log back in, sometimes it triggers postcard verify
2) Make address visible if it is a hidden address listing.
3) Change GMB category to a less spammy category.

Same issue here, I think that Google is analyzing specific niches and targeting them specifically so to avoid spam GMBs. The Rank-and-rent party is going to be heavily affect by that.
