Wich hosting do you use?

I need one site hosted in the UK with a dedicated IP address, anyone have any suggestions?

What effect does dns have on google detecting that you own a bunch of similar domains. I know you want each hosted on its own ip but can it detect that they all go through the same dns.

I'm reseller on Hostgator for 6 years and I'm satisfied with them. Be aware if you choose anything lower than reseller, they can turn down your site without warning for too much resources, ram, cpu or hosting or linking copyrighted videos, warez, using chat scripts... They also have minimum time limit for cron jobs. If on reseller, they just give you a warning, as they assume it's not you breaking the rules but one of your clients. :) And uptime of my sites is almost 100% for these years! They use theplanet state-of-the-art datacenters in Dallas, Texas and I used theplanet dedicated servers, so I know it's great. Support is awsome and I always got answers immediately via live chat or in about half an hour via ticket system.

I tried Dreamhost for a year, and they were soooo terrrrrrible, especially on database calls. Slower than snail! For not canceling free domains I got with coupon and for not be able to freeze status of hosting for 2 months they took me more than $60. If your into porn industry, some partner sites don't even look at you if you are hosting at Dreamhost. Support is poor also.

Tested some others for VPS, but they're not worth to mention. I heard Hostgator VPS and dedis are also good.

most likely none as one dns server usually holds thousands of records

you can buy domain at godaddy, but for hosting I choose hostgator

Don't use dreamhost. They have so much downtime, and one usually lasts a few days. They just lost my site, don't know if they can get it back at the moment.

I need a better one now.

@bigwali:

no it's not a godaddy thing with google. names get sandboxed if you abuse them in certain ways, it happens to the best of us lol. and 1-2 weeks is an awesome turnaround time - I've been stuck in sandbox for longer lol. It's not fun....

and thanks for asking the question - i know godaddy has issues, but i was just thinking the same thing - why all the hate @ GD? no they are not perfect, but i think they're so busy trying to manage all their stuff that they don't notice a lot of what we do....

peace,
gregs.

Hey guys, its looking like hostgator is getting the most votes here...

I have a question, im in the Uk looking for UK traffic, does it matter where my host is?

Would a UK host be better for me? Faster?

I always recommend Hostgator. They may oversell their shared hosting plans, but to be honest if you are using shared then you probably aren't getting much traffic anyway.

I have had pretty much everything they offer, shared hosting, VPS, reseller (with WHMC - highly recommended for flippers) and dedicated servers. Their support is generally pretty good although if you have some more technical questions and demands you may be better off finding an unmanaged server elsewhere.

I've had accounts with about 10 different hosts and I always end up coming back in the end!

I use GigaPros which I have been with for over a year now. Stellar EVERYTHING BUT, I want to buy multiple domains and theres is $11.95 per extra domain.. I only pay 10 bucks a month for my 7 domains on their shared server but thinking to also having a hostgator acct to have my FLOP sites with.. Can anyone tell me how much extra domains are with hostgator? Thanks!

Addon domains are free assuming you aren't on the baby plan when you can only have one domain.

Yes but there is a charge for them.. They cannot be completely free of course. Thats what I want to know.. If I have another plan besides the baby plan.. How much is it to get a addon domain on it.. Basically I would be signing up there ONLY to get a decent package to host 20-30 domains for 2 years or so as I flip them. See my host thats only 10 bucks a month.. has gone up in pricing for addon domains.. My first one was 8.95 when I first signed up and now its at 11.95 a addon domain.

Im sorry, I meant to say the ones that they register.. Not ones that I already own that I would be transferring to them

Oh, I see. Don't register domains through your host, you will always pay over the odds. I recommend name.com - much cheaper and better service. All you need to do is point the nameservers to your hosting.
