We have a pregnancy site, and are sending, among some cpa offers, some very high quality content, which is super personalized. Basically you get some tipps for the pregnancy according to your personal due date. Its pretty non spammy, but the open rates and click rates have been dropping by about 7% every single year. Used to be 40% in 2018, now we are down to 20%. Its pretty bad. What can I do about it? New content? Google Post Master says our domain reputation and ip reputation is medium.
Unfortunately we are forced to send some pretty spammy bs to survive, which has even lower open rates, but this particular drip mail campaign always performed very well. Whats going on?

Have you thought about developing an app that could do this personalized tips?
Maybe it's time for an strategy change.

push notifications and app notifications took place. people don't read mails if its not important.

I will implement webpush, not sure about an app yet, costs a ton of money.
E-Mail is on a down trend for sure, but we shouldn't be dropping like a stone like that, clearly we are fucking up somewhere.

yep. try with webpush. it will surely help

get back those open rates by using emojis and hook lines in the email body that is visible only in inbox but invisible when email is opened.

but yeah, its just that nowadays every service or platform you sign up - wants to send you a promo content every few days or so.

thus making email inboxes unreadable, people now use junk emails for signing up to such services so your email campaigns will never be seen.

What geo are you targeting?

What size is your list?

You maybe able to place cpc ads in the emails, depending on the answers.

Also sounds like you could be hitting the spam / junk folder.

Do you have follow up sequences as the kids are born and get older?

Although email marketing is overall expanding, there are some problems with open rates since people receive a ton of emails each day and they really don't have the time to read them all so they just see the push notifications and decide if the content seems interesting or not. So, you should probably focus on a more appealing subject line, try to offer something in it, some promo code, discount, the case study that's particularly important for some pregnancy stages, and so on. Experiment, send different emails and subject lines to separate groups and see if some of them showed higher open rates.
