Buy new domain vs. expired?

I'm thinking to create a blog and monetize it after a while with ads and/or affiliate links.
Should I buy a fresh never used domain or should I go for a expired domain?
The screenshot below is from expireddomains and I just wrote blackhat and got some domain names,
what should I look at when looking for a expired domain?

I'm pretty new and noob at in this topic, so would love to get some tips from you guys.

If you are building a new site I would buy a niche related expired domain and buy from reputed sellers in the forum like @Nargil to spare all the trouble (finding a good one is not easy and will end costing you more).

There’s a trade off between the readability slash branding of a new domain and the authority boost of an expired domain. If the domain is good, clean and powerful, I think you can definitely pull it off. If the domain is meh or not clean, it’s better go with a “new” domain.

It would be my 3rd site. Have one on shopify and a blog on wordpress where I try and fail

If you are building a new site I would buy a niche related expired domain and buy from reputed sellers in the forum like @Nargil to spare all the trouble (finding a good one is not easy and will end costing you more).

I have not figured out which niche I will go for, but it will be niched down. Won't go for something crazy as I'm learning. I will check him out thanks!

You think I can do it, but can I? Totally noob, but I've read alot on this and other forums, and videos on youtube are starting to get recommended to me which is nice. How can I know that a domain is good, clean and/or powerful?

I like to build on fresh domains for branding reasons. It depens on your objective though. If you build small generic affiliate sites, expired domains might be a better solution. Just make sure you have access to good expired domains.

Which is most expensive on the long end you think, fresh or expired? Since this guy(me) are on a budget as well.

Most expensive in the long run is being on budget. Because most of the time, you will end up wasting money and never ranking.

If you are on budget, go with expired domains. Proper expired domain, not some RD10 crap. It will save you thousands on shitty offsite SEO links.

10 good guest posts/niche edits are what? $2500+? For that you can have a domain with those links and many many more already.

Some people were referring to brandability. Well, if you aren't way too special in the head, you will pick domain first and niche second. That way you won't be running around looking for "banana chocolate ice cream with mint" niche for 2 years.

Brandability is important if you build SaaS products as an example.

And you should definitely look at the number of backlinks on it. Unfortunately, there is no sure way to tell whether domain names with a history are banned by google without buying them.

My income went alot down when I started on my master studies, thats why I have to run it as budget for atleast 1,5 years.

After some research, I see I can afford something in the RD100-300 range, if it stands for referring domains.

Yeah I think its much easier and better to find a proper domain, and the niche second.

All of my sites built on expired domains experienced boost this past update with no other link building done.

Even one that was hit in an update a year ago suddenly went from 200 to 1000 UV a day from Google alone. Site has not been updated for over half a year.
