I really dont like these developments, politicans know nothing, but try to secure old and unworking & corrupted systems... However, I think it's already too late, the genie is out of the box and no one - even the EU can stop it. I remember talking with two high ranking politicians at one private event about seven years ago maybe... I asked them about Bitcoin... both haven't even heard what it was, that opened my eyes. Crypto is here to stay but not the way people want it to be, nor governments or authorities, between being enthusiastic about something that is threatening governments and basic economic hard truths, we should realize that crypto is still far away from altering modern day currencies, right now it's just a favourite digital asset for high risk investors, and those talking about banking lobbies are ridiculous, have you guys checked how much the JP MORGAN holds of BTC ? asides from that it serves as a payment stream for digital traders, and i'm talking about marketers like us, not the pedo, terrorist fellas, do governements really thinks these peoples uses paxful or binance to get Wages ?? the deep web is full of mixed wallets and fresh btc stocks, try to track this if you can ! About stupid KYC regulations: in the past years I was using E-Coin (that turned into Wirex), a convenient way to have your crypto in your hand at any moment. This year I received a KYC request from them stating that I have to declare origins of my crypto and (if is not acquired trough mining or exchange) to get a legally signed declaration from the sender with their origin of the crypto. Is a good thing that they stopped at first layer tho, isn't it?

Edit: Also they required proof of ownership for personal wallets from which transactions have been made toward Wirex, proof that includes full name and email address used on Wirex to appear on the wallet.
