Hi there, looking to change the permalink setting from "day and name" to "post name".

If I do change the permalink setting will it only affect the blog posts?
Note - there are only 2 blog posts at this stage however looking to upload quite a few articles that are ready to go.

Thanks

it affects their rankings, yes, but since you only have 2 posts (and especially if they're not ranking anywhere at the moment) it's much better to make the change now instead of waiting for your posts to rank

You can make the change without a problem,
Just make sure to redirect the old URLs to the new ones to let google crawlers be aware of the change

Thanks for the responses.

I guess my question is will the change ONLY affect the two “posts” and not any “pages”.

for example I have around 10 “pages” e.g. domain.com/about

and only two “blog posts” e.g. domain.com/2021/01/08/blog-post-title

is it safe to assume that the blog posts will only be affected and therefore need to be redirected?

yes, the permalink settings do only affect posts,
no changes to pages or website permalink will be made

It only affects urls from the blog posts. As mentioned before, when changing the URL, always make sure you redirect the old URL towards the new URL. In order to maintain possible backlinks and rankings. Good luck with your site!
