They might be the execs, but what are the demographics of the board members? That would be interesting, are they diverse in culture & gender?

Ofc not, the distribution among those skews heavily for American citizens (born or otherwise), male, white, in that order. The reason is simple: these guys have the REAL power and call the shots, NOT Indian executives in charge of the company. Don't get me wrong, the execs still do an amazing hard job as it's not easy running a multi-billion $ company.

But the numbers don't lie. Execs usually have less than 1/10th of shares and 1 seat top, while investors have majority shares and most importantly majority seats. The exceptions are corps where 1 of the original founders is still CEO, in which case he may have a lot more power in the board. But even in these cases, most of them are still American.

That and I think most importantly is the opportunities they got provided in the USA. If they remained in India I can bet my both balls this wouldn't have happened no matter how populated.

Look at Elon Musk, originally South African with rich parents but without what he met in the US and opportunities maybe he would have been just another business man and not what he is today.

I have a couple of theories about it.

India has a country full of strong mathematicians (and chess players).

Considering the population, statistically there are a lot of smart people.
If you filter out the particularly ambitious people who emigrate to, say, the US, graduate from top universities, then you get a new tech elite.

Sure, they are just Exec's (not always the inventors), but I also see many American and European startups with Indian founders that have raised good amounts of capital from investors.

I myself can only admire Indians (how often have they helped me with projects like software development on upwork etc.)

I have my own stupid theory about this. Mainly it is that Indian people make good employees and are generally well-liked among their peers. Indians are very non-threatening on the global stage, they have very few horses in the game and are not known to be aggressive about global domination. Imagine, if these were all Chinese, conspiracy theories would prop up (same for Muslims/Russians). If these were all white men, the "woke" people would object.

I'm not saying Indian people are not talented, infact, what I am saying is that they are particularly well equipped to deal with today's work culture.

Since most of workers are Indians, I guess it make sense to put up a Indian as ceo.
For example google is owned and controlled 51% by Larry Page and sergai brin and and they have put up sundar pachai which make sense and not John muller.

On a serious note: If you ever tried to find a technical, engineering, science explainer video on YouTube, you know that it is hard to find one not made by Indians. This tells me that the people of India are focusing on hard science and I would guess that state and their culture encourages it as a way to improve lives for everyone.

Based on my personal experience, Indian people work hard, Indian people know what they are doing, Indian people read carefully before responding to a question, and Indian people are physically fit, which means they have fewer health issues than people from other countries.
In addition, everyone is aware that practise makes man perfect, and according to this fact, Indian individuals who practise on the same activity are considered to be perfect
