Which is better to get started with?

Personally I think adsense is the easiest. Some people may have a different opinion, but this is just me. With adsense you get almost instant gratification...as soon as you setup your new account and plunk some adsense code onto your website within a few hours you should see some clicks or impressions (assuming your site does have visitors) This helps re-inforce that you are indeed making some money even if its only a couple cents or dollars 
With some affilate programs it might take you acouple days or weeks to rake in one sale. so in the beginning you might be unsure of how you are doing. Once you get a good feel for adsense it's a great idea to switch to using aff marketing in addition to adsense.:champion:

it pays well for me. it has been paying at the same rate for me since 2 years
Haha, nice lol.
I do think adsense is a good way to do things, but if you can get good affiliate marketing which can be totally specific to what your site offers then you can make a lot more (considering only 1 sale can equal A LOT). I use ClickBank sites which are not listed on clickbank though, so finding sites that'll work for your specific sites may not be as easy.. and in that case, Adsense is the way to go
