My News Site Journey

Yo. What's up won't share links cause I know people be lurking and enjoy the thrill of the hunt.

A couple of things
1. Bought the website and it started at 35 DR with about 200 backlinks ahrefs image below, most links look like they are PBN. Don't worry didn't spend a lot on the domain name I think total it was close to 100$ for the domain name and I bought it not knowing it had DR already just liked the name of it.
2. I write all my own content, it is all unique and I do about 1-2 new related posts a day excluding weekends.
3. I got it approved for adsense actually 2 days ago so just started that up already making some money with it
4. Installed google analytics on it on the 17th
5. I am doing aggressive SEO and will keep you all posted here with weekly updates on Traffic, SEO efforts etc.
6. I'm using Crowdo.net as a link provider as well to help get things going
7. Site is not old. It is maybe 3-4 months old domain name

since its news site, u will write 10 articles per week? but there are interesting news going on everyday

Currently doing 1-3 a day depending on if the news is interesting to me.
Currently focusing on on-site SEO doing some keyword research and whatnot I have like maybe 1-3 hours a day I put into the site max.

As a news site, wouldn't it be better to pull news posts from rss feeds?

Spinners are doo-doo and I enjoy writing so would rather do it all uniquely myself

Good Luck man. Btw don't you think producing more content(with some of it fake) is better than aggressive seo for a news site? A lot of news sites pull more traffic from social than via seo as this is already very saturated

Well, it's kind of a news site honestly I'd say it's more of a blog with some articles related to current news.

I started the review process with 5 articles

I then added about 20 for a total of 25 by the time they finally approved me it took about 15 days for them to approve my website.

Also worth noting I already had an active Adsense account prior to getting this website started

Usually will do updates on Friday's but because of the holiday this will be my weekly update

So actually quite an exciting week.
Had an article of mine blow up on Reddit resulting in a good amount of traffic flowing into the site since the post.


Analytics below


Yeah, I know the bounce rate and duration is tragic but it is at least a start

Got a couple of pitty dollars on Adsense which was pretty cool

Got some clicks from google as well not sure what keyword it is as it isn't showing up yet in the search console.


And last but not least still working on some ON-SITE stuff like optimizing the META etc.
Got some new backlinks, some coming in from Crowdo but most of them came from websites auto reposting the Reddit post linking back to my site.

Another Friday another update.

Did some backlinking this week finally finished research and going to focus more on the keywords I selected got site fully optimized around my selected keywords. Other than that pretty mellow week. Added 15 articles this week looking to add some more later today if any news interests me

Missed a couple updates been busy because of holidays

Continued to do some link building and trying to gain some social proof seems to be working out nicely so far as I've seen a huge spike in Google impressions. Been doing pretty well at ranking for some of the keywords i've been going for.



Ahrefs is looking pretty good as well still getting more and more backlinks by the day coming in.



Hoping to be top 10 in about 5-6 of my 10 keywords within the next 2 months and once I get that it's time to just contain.

Added about 40 new articles since I last updated, sadly none of them have had any viral success since my one main one got well over 15,000 hits in 2 days from a viral reddit post.

Lots of manual labor building up links on forums. Doing things like profile creation, infographic promotion and submission, classified ads, thread creation, comments, just tons of stuff that'll build up some type of exposure to my site. Haven't ran any paid ads yet but I plan on it very soon. Already have some sites that repost my content as well which is nice for the backlink.
