What are the necessary tools and settings you need from google analytics and search console. I'm trying to learn more and utilize both of these to optimize my traffic. Are there courses on these as well?

It's pretty simple if you are just looking to connect your site to analytics.
There are plenty of plugins where you can just set your analytics credentials to start tracking your sites data.
All for free.

I already connected it but what I am talking about is how to properly use both the app. Like creating goals tracking traffic from funnels, tracking sign ups etc. I see a lot of videos on youtube but not an in depth tutorial.

I have a few paid courses for the GA could share you on a pm. If you need it.

You simply connect Analytics and GSC with your website. And rest you should know how to read and analyze the data and according to that you need to work on your website.

Google offers a free course to set up the Analytics and search console/.

Setup GSC for google analytics. Filter the other options as per your requirement and collect the data.

A couple things that helped me:

- Make sure it's a Universal Analytics in GA not GA4 which sucks btw
- Connect GSC to GA
- Enable Demographics and Interest Reporting under Admin Property settings
- Enable Remarketing under Audiences
- Search Google Analytics Dashboard Templates and import some for SEO into your Account
- Set up Google Tag Manager for your site so you can build Events that are meaningful and make sure you implement GA Universal Analytics page view tag first then you do the GA Events
- Use Event setting in GA Goals for conversion tracking and optimization (if you plan to run any paid search)
- Link your domain to Ahrefs free account for additional backlink monitoring

Once you have some data on hand (30 days at least), you can start to find some opportunities increase rankings for high volume/value KWs. From there, looking for keywords competitors rank for is worthwhile. That should be a decent start.
