Facebook is changing the name, rebranding, changing algorithm, media hate FB. affairs are all over the place, hackers are leaking users' data... The real question is: Do people really care about all of that?

It seems to me that people don't give a fuck at all. People love FB, it give so much, everything is there, friends, marketplace, groups, pages, information... People love that and obviously people need that.

FB is rebranding just because it cannot attract teenagers, only older audience. What do you think about it? Do people care at all?

Facebook is huge, I read somewhere that there's a big percentage of people in India who think Facebook is the internet and there's nothing else to it, which is crazy to me.
Many people don't care or don't even know about any privacy issues. I care, and a lot of other people do also, which is bad enough for Facebook. Even some governments care, they are getting big fines.
I personally think facebook would be almost dead by now if they didn't get instagram and whatsapp.

In economics, it is called "inelastic demand".
This is a similar concept, brought about by lack of substitutes.
Meaning, if you were to not use FB / Social media, what else would you do to communicate?
If you do not, for most people, you are a loser. So people acquiese their information to Facebook.

Back in 2005-2008 FB was super tool to stay in touch with friends and share photos. other alternative was SMS which was expensive
Now there are bunch of tools to stay in touch with friends like various messengers so there is no need to use FB for that
