The reality is that there are many (or some) internet marketing newbies who do not do any research before buying a course. And this is how it was, is AND will ALWAYS be !!! And many internet marketing "gurus" are aware of this reality and are experts on how to exploit this scenario. In the case you've mentioned, the "guru" has sold something that was otherwise available for free (as per you). But, however, it may be appreciable (if it can be said this way) how these "gurus" repackage old wines in new bottles and that itself is a monetizable skill, as many these "gurus" do make good sales. And the real ground reality is that this is how it will always be.

Generally youtube is very hard to find reliable knowledge about making money online. Lots of fake videos made only to attract viewers and sell them ads/affiliate marketing products... Nobody would really share true secrets of their way of making money, unless it is public knowledge.
