Updating blog post every week? Does it hurt rankings?

I have a blog with a post I'd like to update every week or so. Can I do so without hurting my rankings?

It's a "list post", so title example: "7 Ways To Make More Money" would in a week be changed to "8 Ways To Make More Money", and the blog post will be updated as well of course.

what can hurt rankings is not the content, but the theme.

I don't think it will hurt SEO, but why not write a new article each week? That would probably be much better for your site's SEO.

You can edit the title but the slug must stay the same. So you end up with 10 ways to make money but the url shows 7 ways. Probably that won't hurt seo just confuse a few vigilant readers.

Updated content is generally a good thing but major on-page elements should stay in place.

Changing <title> so often might have negative effect, yes.

Instead of that, you could introduce a "bonus" or "worth mentioning" section where you add additional methods.

This specific article was "7 Ways To Earn More Money" (not exact title). Should I do "7 Ways To Earn More Money #2" next time? Or create a category related to the topic?

How about future posts - what would you do here? I have tons of idea beyond the 7 ideas, so how would I make that into multiple blog posts?

Number in title can increase CTR from my experience so it should be there imo.

I suggest you do 10+, 20+ while keeping the slug the same. This will give engines enough time to re-crawl and give attribution.

Then finalize at 40.

Don't do that. That'll turn into cannibalization fast. I learned that the hard way a few months ago.

Do what the tiiberius dude said. I myself use a more complicated method to create multiple posts.

No it doesn't but its not required either if the changes are not about facts or figures that change every day or week like Foreign Exchange.

If you change content of your article (not add new) you change keyword density. And that is something what influences on your off page SEO. I know google likes new and fresh content, but I'm not sure if they like constant changing.

What about Page Title, H1 and meta description?
Do you change this when you update the article?
What is the structure of the URL?

I do this once every 2 months for some posts. It has not had a negative effect at all. I only change the number in the title and add the new content.
Maybe just scale back the weekly updates to monthly.
