Notifications Not Notifying On Mentions?

I found the thread by chance and I saw myself being mentioned but I never received any notifications.



I remember @RushingWind mentioning the same thing when I mentioned him on another thread too, saying he never recieved any notifications on my mentions.

Yes. And some notifications are a bit delayed too. Like “x” person has posted in “x” thread 14 minutes after they’d made the post.

Okay, @rushinwind, I went through some of your recent alerts, but the timestamps on the alerts match up to the times the content was posted.

If you have any examples of alerts that were sent a while after the content was posted, can you let me know which alert it was here so I can take a look at it? I'll leave this thread open so that you can do that.

@xReminisce, the solution to your problem was a lot simpler. The member who "tagged" you in that thread did not use the tags correctly. Instead of doing @Zwielicht, he did @zwielicht. If that's not clear, the easiest way I can explain it is that he used the at symbol, but he manually hyperlinked your username. When you do this, the forum does not register it as a tag, so no alert gets sent out. I can see how you thought the issue was on the forum's end as that issue is not as apparent on the white theme as it is on the black theme, but here's what it looks like:

I didn’t get the red notif alert for this but that’s probably because you already read it? The time stamps match up, that wasn’t what I meant. Sorry, I should’ve been a bit more clear. It’s that I don’t get the red notif alert at all or sometimes later (minutes after the event which triggered the alert has happened). It already exists as an entry on my alerts list but I just don’t get notified immediately. When I manually check the alerts or when I get an alert for something else and check that, I also see the alert from before.

Maybe it’s an issue on my side since not a lot of other users have pitched in? I could try using a different browser for a while and see if it happens again.

Does this ever happen as you're browsing the forum, or just when you stay on one page/thread for a long time? If I recall correctly, if you don't click on a page for a while, the alerts won't show up until you do or until you refresh the page/go to a different page.

I haven't seen anyone else report this issue yet, but I'll leave this thread open for a little while to see if anyone does.

People often edit their message when they post something and forget to mention someone, add what they want, etc, etc...

When they edit their message and add you @ you will never receive a notification.

I will add @xReminisce now but it won't let you know, you won't receive notificaiton.

I finally got a notification for you quoting me.
It happens as I’m browsing the forum. Also, when you do refresh the page, shouldn’t that red alert show up for pending unread notifications? That isn’t happening for me.

This has happened to me many times and I realized a long time ago that this is exactly what happens.

When people edit their messages, notifications will never arrive in such a case because the message has already been posted.

Anyway, sometimes I don't really get notifications from my own threads, but that's once in literally 500 notifications so it's not a big deal.

So... What reward awaits me for a resolved case?

Following up on this, I noticed the same thing @RushingWind mentioned about red notifications being late for sub-forums that I subscribed too.

Have a look at the screenshot of what just happened:


You can see that I just received red notification for two new threads in "Want to Buy" and they were posted 6 hours and 40 minutes earlier.
Not sure why this happens, I've been active all day today and received other notifications on time. Not the first time I noticed this happening, but it's not every time, if that helps.
