It all depend on the keywords you ranking for. Let's say one keyword is ranking in position #10 of course you will get a low ctr. Thanks guys! What's a good CTR? About 10%?
That would be decent, yes. I’ve had videos hit 15% when they start getting recommended. Thanks guys! What's a good CTR? About 10%?
10% and up seems to be the sweet spot. Thanks guys! What's a good CTR? About 10%?
My competition is making half assed shitty thubmnails specially a particular set of channels and they are outranking my ass with better thumbnails and animations, and I have a big 3 million channel, my latest video did 20k views. I feel like getting drunkAverage CTR on Youtube is 4-5%. Ofcourse there are videos with CTR above this, depending on the number of subscribers the channel has, niche, number of views, and how long the video has been on Youtube. But overall average is 4-5%.
The YouTube video’s thumbnail is in my opinion the key to increasing a video’s CTR. It is YouTube video’s thumbnail that gives a chance to connect with viewers on a visual and emotional level that the YouTube algorithm don’t ever understand. I have observed that the top-performing videos on YouTube are using custom thumbnails, so you need to learn how to design them because the automated default thumbnails YouTube gives you may not be all that appealing. Custom thumbnails that perform best usually include a human (usually the presenter), some text, and an emotional expression. But, avoid creating clickbait type of thumbnails.
As long as your thumbnail looks good and title is engaging, you need not change anything. But the point is, how to assess whether these are good enough to grab the attention of the viewers?Hello!
One of my videos has a CTR of 2%, but it still gets a little bit of traffic. Should i change the thumbnail or title? Or just leave it as it is?
As long as your thumbnail looks good and title is engaging, you need not change anything. But the point is, how to assess whether these are good enough to grab the attention of the viewers?
Simple. Imagine you as a potential viewer and you are looking for a particular content on YT. Then how do you skim down to right content from hell lot of content available on YT?
Generally, we (or I) look for the following aspects:
1. Is thumbnail giving relevant info abt video?
2. Is it well designed enough to click?
3. Is it messy with lot of text?
4. For any reason if thumbnail is not giving all info, whether title is complementing it to click it?
See, these are my preferences to click on a particular video. Similarly you might be having some preferences w.r.t. consuming content, Right!
So if your thumbnail & title are crafted by taking these factors into consideration and if you are confident enough that they are giving enough info abt the video, you need to worry much.
But, always consider the following:
1. Image quality sh. be good
2. Avoid too much text in thumbnail, keep it short
3. Add images relevant to the video (if available)
4. Make sure thumbnail text is clearly visible across multiple devices
5. And, title should always compliment the thumbnail
Ultimately in the first instance, viewer should understand what your video is about.
Also, CTR will normally decrease with reach you are getting. As reach is getting better and better, your CTR will further come down. It is absolutely normal.
My point is: when it comes to CTR, more is always better. No doubt in it. And it's completely ok, even if your CTR is below a particular standard for some of your videos when reach is much better. Hope you got it.
Your CTR is absolutely good mate. What about this?

This is my last video and is performing like shit. It did around 25k views for a 3 million view channel. As you can see, im below my channel average. So pretty much that's 3 months of work in an animation going to waste since the video is pretty much dead if it doesn't perform well in the first day or two (no recommended traffic). I need every video to perform well and rank and give me passive income while I work on the next one otherwise animation niche is a massive waste of time and not sustainable because of how much time it takes to finish a 10 minute video.
