Hello,

So I really wanted to see what all the hype is about when everyone was recommending WPX.

What is WPX XDN ?
Do you use it?
Is it just as good as other CDNs out there, keyCDN, bunny etc?

For all the WPX lovers out there @Mr Positive, do you use it
Pros and Cons?

never heard of them before, but i am checking them out right now for a few quiz pages that i will make, and since i cant go with neither closte nor nexcess for payment reasons, i may just give it a shot. the CDN comes included with the subscription, which is nice. and price wise its much better than nexcess spark plan if you are planning to have more than 1 page. my only worry is concurrent users crashing the cheap plan (tipical quiz problem)

I used WPX for years and they have really fallen off bad.

1) Terrible WP backups where it took 4 chat ops and 2 tickets to get a backup fixed from their screw up.
2) Placing stupid captchas on your own WP login.
3) Constantly being banned from my own website for 20 min because I had more than one WP-Admin tab open.
They literally told me to only work within 1 tab. Whitelisted my IP only for it to fuck up 2 days later.

Over and Over.
Stupid hosting companies. Everything is HACKABLE.
The best guard against hacking is solid backup/restore functionality.
Not silly ass login fire hydrant pics.

Servers went down in Chicago and costs a lot of us tons of money because they're too feckless
to have backups to rotate too.

Terry the owner is a great guy.
WPX WAS the best.
They have really fallen off.

The robotic chat support is the cherry on top. After weeks of being patient, I left
and they didn't even care I was going to shift thousands a month in business from clients with me.

WP Engine
DigitalOcean (Custom set up)
LiquidWeb
Hostinger (Not the best experience but better than WPX.)

Just deploying your own from a server (VPS) is so nice.

that sucks to hear tbh. will still try it since they have a 30 days return policy, but they already told me they have a 3 PHP worker limit per domain, which sounds underwhelming against traffic spikes. fucking nexcess why don't you just take my fucking money.

 you are paying for it
Honestly, if you are paying that much, i would go use some managed host hosting on aws/gcp

I never liked WPX's price point, and i'm just testing/messing around with it since, it's good to be in the know of which hostings are top of their game currently :P

It's sad to even write about it.
I was a real supporter of WPX for years.
What people might not realize is the owner is a likable guy who did something
great with WPX, but just as with many companies it has slipped.

Puffer, my policy is just to choose an easy host. Do your own backups just in case
and when the project is validated, move it to an expensive host or custom.

With the Duplicator plugin or other tools, it's simple.

1 month in as a jr vip, and still havent mastered the way of the review copy. the best i can get is a 25% discount for the first month.

arent those more difficult to setup and use? i am kind of a rock with techy stuff. so i would rather a simpler hosting. nexcess or closte would be ideal, but the credit/debit card requirement hinders me for some reason. and nexcess support has been quite slow for me. 15 minutes wait for the support pal to get back with a link to a non-relevant article.

100% agree on easy hostings. i will probably do this. see if i can solve the shit with nexcess, and meanwhile build and try the site on wpx taking advantage of the 30 days policy. if the 3 PHP workers + CDN end up being enough for the traffic spikes, i will stay with them. if not, i will have to move, either to nexcess if possible, or some 30usd vps if not (maybe hoststage, since they at least aren't fussy about credit cards and payment methods).

edit: i do feel shitty going with them and knowing chances are i will end up asking the refund. but if the 3 PHP + cdn actually make it work, no one will be happier than me. i just want shit to work at a reasonable price without being a pain to setup haha

No, I also have hosting with kinsta and rocket among others.
I just ask them to do everything for me on those sites.
They set up, they maintain and they can deal with all the annoying stuff

All I need to do is set the nameservers or A/CNAME records to whatever they tell me to set it to
laziness prevails

then I also have digital ocean and linode droplets/nodes and zzz I have to do everything myself, cheaper yes, but more work involved

My Client was on siteground everything was going fine till he realised site was super slow, he bought an cloudflare pro plan, site became worse, he bought an external cdn became even worst. In between siteground blocked his support because we were raising too many support tickets.

Pre sale with wpx, we had some issue and asked them if they’ll solve it I told them we won’t buy but let’s see for future they solved it.

later we contacted them again And asked about Support they said unlimited and that’s when we bought it.

we compared other plans and sicne we consume lot of cdn gb any other host we would pay a high price we been more than happy with WPx barring that downtime .

now they’re launching some new updates in house caching plugin, faster cdn etc so would I recommend yes. However if you’re page views and traffic is less check closte but if you want a host that won’t over charge you for exceeding bandwidth wpx

I use it mate.
If you want to buy wpx dont do it!
Cloudways is 100 times better
