I was researching keywords for my new site and noticed a keyword has good volume. I checked on SERP and found several high authority sites (DA/DR>60) are on the top and ranking on the relevant keyword but not that keyword. Only 3 websites appear in allintitle results and those are weak (DA/DR<10). The thing to notice is both keywords have quite the same search intent.

For example:
The main keyword that I want to rank for: - best place to visit in bangalore karnatak
Authority are sites ranking for the main keyword: - Things to do in bangalore karnatak
(Similar search intent)

Should I go for that keyword?

When you checking with your keywords you will get many tourism related websites, because they used good keyword Density and also they have good traffic too. also Domains matters. for your website you need to work on these keywords with fresh content and also try to increase Back-links like PBN and Social Media posts, also blogs.Keep one location for particular keywords it should be like ex- Things to do in Karnatak or Things to do in Bangalore

It's hypothetical not the right choice targeting keywords with same search intent as the ones dominated by authority websites on SERP.

What do you think you'd right differently to outrank em ?

Definitely not

It's probably a meaty article that ranks for a lot of semantic searches
Something you should stay away from
If for an affiliate keyword store sites like Amazon, Walmart, Alibaba, eBay, and weak sites are ranking on SERP.
Is it a good sign or I should avoid it??

Google no longer ranks content for the keyword. They prioritize sites based on search intent. No matter what you do, they keep ranking these authority sites even if you consider them irrelevant. It's better to avoid keywords with same search intent.

Got it, bro. Thank you for your valuable time to answer this thread. But in the second question, I didn't mention the keyword I want to rank for and showing results have the same search intent.
For example, if the keyword is iPhone 13 review for gaming. Several stores are ranking on the top (obviously without any product review guides) also few weak sites are ranking. I think writing an in-depth guide and a couple of good backlinks will do the work.
What is your thought?

This is the reason I prefer manually doing competitor research instead of depending on SEO tools. You should check the content quality and backlinks of the weak competitors. If they're really weak competitors (not having hidden PBNs) with poor content, then you can easily outrank them.
